因果关系小聚会

    聚会是时下热点话题，也是年轻人们乐此不疲的一项“运动”，瞧，今天的“因果关系兄弟们”也来凑热闹，搞了一场“非比寻常”的小聚会。

    because 引导的原因状语从句是最常见表因果关系的句子如：

    She didn't go there with us last week because her mother was ill.

    其实除 because 外英语中还有一些句型或短语同样可以表达或含有因果关系。

    1. so 连接的并列句。如：

    Ann got up very late, so she was late for school. → Ann was late for school because she got up very late.

    2. so /such … that 结果状语从句。如：

    a. The student did so well in his lessons that the teacher praised him yesterday. → The teacher praised the student yesterday because he did so well in his lessons.

    b. It is such an interesting book that everyone wants to read it. → Everyone wants to read the book because it is an interesting book.

    3. adj./adv enough to do sth 结构。如：

    a. Her little brother is strong enough to carry the big basket. → Her little brother can carry the big basket because he is strong enough.

    b. Jim didn't work hard enough to pass the exam. → Jim didn't pass the exam because he did not work hard enough.

    4. too adj/adv to do sth 结构。如：

    a. My grandfather is too old to run. → My grandfather can't run because he is too old.

    b. The house costs too much for the Wangs to buy it. → The Wangs can't buy the house because it costs too much.

    5. because of, thanks to, with one's help 等短语也含有因果关系。如：

    a. Some students didn't get to school on time because of the heavy rain. → Some students didn't get to school on time because it was heavily rainy.

    b. Thanks to the Great Green Wall, they will have a better harvest this year. → They will have a better harvest this year because the Great Green Wall is very useful.

    c. With her father's help, Sato Miyoko ordered a Canon camera successfully online. → Sato Miyoko ordered a Canon camera successfully online because her father helped her.
